Coming Soon - Faroes Expedition
 
The dramatic and beautiful Faroe Islands will provide the backdrop for the expedition trip in July 2009.
Each trip will be a mixture of untouched wrecks and amazing scenic diving using local guides to uncover that perfect dive and of course with the backup of our onboard dive team.
 
Watch this space as the information and itinery for these trips builds.
 

Scapa Flow is famous for the 7+ remaining wrecks of the German High Seas Fleet. The Konig, Markgraf, Kronprinz Willhelm, Dresden, Karlsrhue,Coln and Brummer are all within range of reasonably experienced recreational divers.

Ittinaries for the less experienced diver can be arranged taking in some of the German fleet and other more accessible wrecks within the sheltered anchorage of Scapa Flow.
 

More varied technical and challenging diving can be arranged for those groups who wish to dive the deeper wrecks both in Scapa Flow and outside in the surrounding waters.
 

Wrecks in depths of 60 – 120m can be dived and with new sites being uncovered and identified each year, the technical diving in the area just gets better and better.
 

Orkneys Northern Isles are an increasingly popular diving destination in their own right. Wrecks in the area range in depth from 10- 90m and include warships, mailships, fishing boats and aircraft. Scenic diving in the area is also world class with usually excellent visibility and abundant marine life on the many reefs and walls. Shetland is another up and coming diving destination with many wrecks, fabulous scenic diving and great scenery forming the backdrop to a really special diving trip.
 
Wrecks in the area include RMS Oceanic- a white star liner,  The Braer- a supertanker, the Lunkhods-1 – a Latvian factory ship, the Glen Isla – a WW1 freighter and a British submarine. With the long summer light of the North giving you extra dive time, Shetland should be a “must do” on your dive list!

Planned for 2009 the Valkyrie will be hopefully undertaking two expeditions to these wonderful northern islands to explore the wrecks in the hundreds of protected fjords.
 

Many books have been written on Scapa Flow and the wrecks of the area and we would recommend a quick read of Dive Scapa flow by Rod Macdonald for Scapa Flow diving and The wrecks of Northeast Scotland By R Baird for diving in the wider area.
